Romans
6:19 I speak after the manner of men because
of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members
servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now
yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
We give into what controls us, because our flesh is weak. What Paul
is cautioning us to do is to seek God first and always.
Romans 6:20
For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were
free from righteousness. We were freed when we
were weak.
Romans 6:21
What fruit had ye then in those things
whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
Where does allowing our flesh to go back to
what we were doing because those things lead to death. (Remember
death like sin came in when Adam sinned. )
Romans
6:22 But now being made free from sin, and
become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end
everlasting life. Once we are freed, we produce
fruit in holiness and will have everlasting life because of the
promise of God.
Romans
6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the
gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. One of my
favorite lines in the entire bible. Wages imply
something that we earn. By being being in a life of sin all we earn
is death. A gift is something that's given freely and extra. So when
we decide to follow God God gives us His Holy Spirit and eternal
life. God is awesome.
